Hi Shane and Greg, hows your day?
All well here - relaxing after a weekend in the clubs.
How was your debut on the Ireland stage?
The first major club we played at was a famous Cork venue called Sir Henry's. We were the resident djs there from 1988.
Wat is the difference between you two?
We work well together but we're quite different people. We come from separate musical backgrounds so that brings different flavours to the studio and dj bo
The Cure & The Cause is definitely one of your greatest releases, it was featured in many compilations and has several remixes from great producers. Ferrer’s remix was the most succesfull version in Romania. What is your favourite version?
Dennis Ferrer's mix is the one that broke the record beyond the house crowd and it's a really great remix but different crowds like different versions. The original is popular in Ireland and countries like Portugal, the US and Turkey. And DJ Meme's disco remix has a big following too. I think it shows that Tracey's vocal can work with a lot of different styles.
Who is Tracey K?
Tracey is an Irish singer and songwriter that we've worked with for the last seven or eight years. She lives in Berlin at the moment but we still work with her and release a record or two each year with her.
You are billed to Background Weekend at Turabo Summer Club on June 4th. How do you expect to be and do you know the headliners or some of the local artists? What do you know about the musical industry from Romania?
Romania is one of the few countries in Europe that we haven't played before so we're really looking forward to it. We're fans of Theo Parrish and know of Vakuka too and will be checking out some of the local artists over the weekend.
Do you ever look into an artist background. If you like their music, do you wana find more about them, or is just a name for you?
Sure, we'd be interested in the background but it's more about the music than the person really.
What are your plans for this year release wise? Do you wana release any concept album?
We're finishing an album at the moment and will be releasing that in the Autumn on our Go Deep label. We've also recently finished remixes for Version, Corrugated Tunnel and Alton Miller and they will be released over the summer.
Any production advice you’d like to share to romanian DJ-s?
Get to know your gear inside out. It's better to have just a couple of pieces of equipment that you know well than having a studio full of gear you can't make sense of. Less can be more.
Have you had much time in the studio this year?
When we're not touring we're in the studio three or four days a week. We're not one of those producers that can turn out a new track every day - we need some time to make sure we're happy with the music we make.
Your latest mixtape – April 2011, where and how you guys recorded?
In the studio with two turntables, two cd players and a Vestax R1 mixer.
